Biography

This workshop is prepared and presented by the ISCoS Emergencies SubCommittee of the External Relations Committee. Dr. Colleen O'Connell is chair of the Emergencies subCommittee and ERic Weerts and Inka Lofvenmark are committee members. Elma is the chairperson of the African Spinal Cord Injury Network, and has collaborated with ISCoS Emergencies Committee in efforts to support the SCI needs for training and capacity building in African regions including Ethiopia. ERic has extensive career with Humanity and Inclusion (HI) with infield humanitarian work and capacity building throughout the world in regions of war, disaster and poverty. Colleen has worked with HI, Momentum Wheels for Humanity in HAiti and Ukraine, and collaborates on technical guidance for rehabilitation in emergencies. She is currently the co-chair of the WHO hosted World Rehabilitation Alliance Emergencies Workstream. Inka has studied outcomes and programs for SCI rehabilitation in Africa and India, while providing mentorship and training in building SCI centre capacity. Volodymyr has led Ukraines national efforts to build rehabilitation programs, workforce and infrastructure on behalf of the Ministry of Health and WHO and has spoken globally on his countries work.
