Biography

Danielle Wilt, OTR/L, OTD, CPAM graduated from The Pennsylvania State University in State College, PA with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, and went on to obtain a Doctorate of Occupational Therapy from the University of Saint Augustine for Health Sciences in St. Augustine, FL. She has been a clinical practitioner for nearly 20 years, and senior therapist and mentor for over 10 years, in the area of spinal cord injury at Kennedy Krieger Institute, International Center for Spinal Cord Injury. She is passionate about neurorehabilitation and helping people to achieve their full potential.

A hybrid perspective on continence after traumatic Spinal Cord Injury: A sequential mixed method study

Biography

Biography: PhD student in nursing spinal cord injured (SCI) patients at the University of Iceland from 2019, Supervisor Marianne E. Klinke PhD. Working at the Surgical outpatient department B3 at NUH in Fossvogur, preparing patients for both neurological and plastic surgeries from 2023. Previously worked full time at Grensás the Rehabilitation department of NUH as well as being a PhD student, in parallel conducting current study. M.Sc. in nursing management from 2012 B.Sc. in nursing from 1998 Academic interests: Nursing in neurosciences, spinal cord injuries, rehabilitation, urology, wound care, pain treatments, cognitive and psychological patient support and mixed method studies. Work experience: Neurological nursing with spinal cord injured, brain and nerve damaged, geriatric and cancer patients, also in nursing management and directorial work along with other operations with both managerial and operational responsibilities. Teaching B.Sc. nursing students about complications from immobility at Faculty of Nursing at University of Iceland since 2021. Professional associations. The Icelandic Nurses Association (FÍH); professional departments of cancer-, geriatric and neurological nursing, and professional department of nursing managers and directors, chair of the nursing managers and directors 2016–2018. Former a member of a steering group of professional departments of nursing man/dir and in the steering group of the professional group of Family nursing at NUH. Former member of the faculty council of the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Iceland as a representative of master students 2011–2012. A board member of PhD student counsel of the School of Health Sciences within the University of Iceland from 2022–2023. A board member for Iceland in NoSCoS the Nordic Spinal Cord Society from 2020-2024. ISCoS member from 2023.
