Biography
John Kramer is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology, Pharmacology, & Therapeutics and Associate Director of ICORD at the University of British Columbia (UBC). After completing a PhD in Neuroscience at UBC, Dr. Kramer was a postdoctoral fellow at the University Hospital Balgrist in Zurich, Switzerland and Shepherd Centre in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research Scholar (2014-2019) and his laboratory has been funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (ERA-NET), Natural Sciences and Engineering Council of Canada (NSERC), Canadian Foundation for Innovation, Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research, the International Foundation for Research in Paraplegia, Craig H. Neilsen Foundation, and Wings for Life. Dr. Kramer is a member of SCOPE (Spinal Cord Outcomes Partnership Endeavor) and long-time collaborator of the European Multi-Centre Study about Spinal Cord Injury, and is actively engaged in research aimed at improving the design of spinal cord injury clinical trials.
