Sara Ahmed, PT, PhD, Professor, McGill University, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, McGill University, Scientific Director Digital Health Network
Sara Ahmed, PT, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, at McGill University, and a senior scientist at the RI-MUHC Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation and the Centre de recherche interdisciplinaire en réadaptation (CRIR). She leads a research program in person-centered digital health research and is the scientific director of the BRILLIANT learning health community project (https://www.brilliant-cfi.ca), part of a network of international Living Labs, and Open Science initiatives. Dr. Ahmed conducts research aimed at improving health outcomes for individuals with chronic diseases. Her research addresses the implementation of digital health solutions and patient-centered outcomes across trajectories of care to inform clinical and health system decision-making. She is an advisor for the Implementation of Patient-Centered Outcomes for the Quebec Support Unit, and the scientific director of the FRQS Digital Health Network.

ATR-FTIR Spectroscopy as a Potential Outcome Measure for Serum Metabolome-Based Severity Stratification and Rehabilitation Monitoring in Spinal Cord Injury Patients
12:00 - 12:15Biography
I am a final year PhD student, graduated in Biomedical Sciences and master in Biochemistry. My research interests revolve around establishing personalized therapies for spinal cord injury (SCI)
patients. To contribute to developing such therapies, my PhD research focuses on omics analyses of serum samples, collected before and after rehabilitation from SCI patients, to understand the
molecular crosstalk between systemic changes and the central nervous system in these patients during rehabilitation. The project aims to identify molecular targets strongly correlated with the
patients' functional and motor improvements, that can serve as a starting point to establish personalized therapies with clinical relevance, promoting neurorehabilitation and, potentially, neuroregeneration upon SCI.
Prof Norbert Weidner
Medical Director And Chair

MIND THE GAP: FROM REHAB GOALS TO REAL-WORLD MOBILITY IN SPINAL CORD INJURY AND STROKE SURVIVORS
12:15 - 12:30Biography
Dr. Weidner, a board certified neurologist, is medical director and chair of the Spinal Cord Injury Center at Heidelberg University Hospital since 2009. There, he oversees all preclinical and clinical research activities aiming for neuroregeneration, neurorehabilitation in spinal cord injury. He is author on many research papers in the context of preclinical and clinical SCI research and is currently past-president of the German-speaking SCI society and speaker of the European Multicenter Study about Spinal Cord Injury (EMSCI). He was principal investigator in the preceding phase I anti-Nogo trial and lead investigator of all EU sites participating in the phase II anti-Nogo (NISCI) study. He is also member of a German-wide research consortium focusing on neuropathic pain and recently established the second Physical Therapy Science School at Heidelberg University Hospital.
