Biography

Dr Jane Duff has worked as a clinician-academic in spinal cord injury (SCI) rehabilitation for over 30 years providing direct therapy, research, teaching/training and consultancy. She became a Consultant Clinical Psychologist in 2008 and Head of the National Spinal Injuries Centre Psychology Team at Stoke Mandeville Hospital in 2017. Jane seeks to improve psychosocial outcome and self-management which impacts lifelong quality of life and health for people with SCI. Jane leads national and international SCI research and provides local post graduate research supervision. Jane serves on the NHS England Clinical Reference Group for Rehabilitation and Complex Disability and produced the Psychological and Mental Health Standards Report for People with SCI in January 2023. Jane was an expert for WHO 2030 Package of Rehabilitation Interventions and Chairs the European Spinal Psychologists Association and International Spinal Cord Society Psychosocial Special Interest Group.

Biography

Gabrielle Bedard is a PhD student in Kinesiology Science at McGill University, specializing in exercise and health psychology. Their research focuses on peer-led behaviour change coaching for students with disabilities, examining the impact of Behaviour Change Techniques on health behaviours and well-being. Gabrielle is also collaborating on a study at Vancouver Island University, exploring well-being in Canadian peer support programs, particularly among spinal cord injury peer mentors. Their work aims to bridge research and practice by developing evidence-based strategies to support health behaviours and well-being among persons with disabilities

Biography

Dr. Jenn Coker has worked in the field of traumatic SCI since 1997. She obtained a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University in May 2001, where she won the James W. Alley Award for Outstanding Service to Disadvantaged Populations, and a PhD in Clinical Science from the University of Colorado-Anschutz Medical Campus in 2020. Dr. Coker has won several awards for research presentations and publications, most recently being awarded the American Spinal Injury Association MJ Mulcahey Award for rehabilitation outcomes measurement. She has been at Craig Hospital since April 2012 and is the Co-Project Director of the SCI Model Systems and PI for several other projects.

Biography

Amanda Botticello, PhD, MPH, is Associate Director of the Center for Outcomes and Assessment Research, Vice Chair of Research Education and Research, and Research Professor of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Rutgers University, New Jersey Medical School. Dr. Botticello’s research focuses on epidemiological investigations of the social determinants of health and disability, and she has extensive experience with quantitative research design, analysis, and the use of large databases. Her research interests include investigating the role of economic, social, and built environment characteristics on long-term outcomes for adults with acquired physical disability and community re-integration barriers for children with special healthcare needs. She is PI or co-PI on several projects funded by the NIH, NIDILRR, and the Craig H. Neilsen Foundation. Dr. Botticello is a co-investigator in the Northern New Jersey Spinal Cord Injury Model System and active researcher in the American Spinal Cord Injury Model Systems program.

Gillean is an occupational therapist and clinical researcher. Her current work includes evaluating a peer-led Active Rehabilitation approach in Australia, establishment of international basic and extended datasets in vocational rehabilitation following spinal cord injury and in her local state context improving systems and culture to address barriers to accessing healthcare for people with disability.
