Biography

Dr Leanne Rees is a post-doctoral researcher with the Stem Cell Ethics & Policy Group at Murdoch Children’s Research Institute and is the Allied Health Research and Translation Lead at The Royal Melbourne Hospital. Underpinned by twenty years working as a physiotherapist in spinal cord injury rehabilitation, Leanne’s research focuses on how media informs hope in health. She is currently exploring novel ways to counter therapeutic misinformation in the healthcare setting.

Mahek Iyer is a fourth-year medical student at the University of Sheffield with an academic interest in neurorehabilitation and oncology. She is actively involved in research on cognitive impairment following spinal cord injury and has undertaken international clinical observerships. She is particularly interested in the integration of cognitive and psychological care into rehabilitation pathways.
