Biography

Dr Ellen Merete Hagen is a Consultant Neurologist at the Spinal Cord Injury Centre of Western Denmark and an Associate Professor at Department of Clinical Medicine at Aarhus University. She has previously worked as a Consultant Neurologist in Autonomic Medicine at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square. She studied Medicine at the University of Oslo and completed her specialist training in Neurology at Haukeland University Hospital, Bergen, Norway. Her completed her PhD Thesis: “Traumatic spinal cord injuries – A clinical and epidemiological study” at Bergen University. Her research interests are: Spinal Cord Injuries, Autonomic Nervous System, epidemiology, neurorehabilitation, electronic health record systems and diagnostic coding. She has established an Autonomic Laboratory at the Spinal Cord Injury Centre of Western Denmark. She is the Treasurer of the International Spinal Cord Society (ISCoS), member of the ASIA Autonomic Committee and the ASIA Education Committee. She is an Associate Editor of Spinal Cord Series and Cases. She is a member of Scientific Panel of Neurotraumatology and the Scientific Panel of Neurorehabilitation at the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) and the Chair of the Autonomic Neurorehabilitation Special Interest Group (ANSIG) in the World Federation of Neurorehabilitation (WFNR).
