Biography

Colleen O’Connell is professor of PM&R and Chair of ISCoS Emergencies sub-Committee. As Co-Chair of the WHO World Rehabilitation Alliance, she collaborates with an international team to advocate for the strengthening of rehabilitation in health systems, including emergency preparedness and response. She has authored and provided technical guidance on rehabilitation in emergencies, with emergencies humanitarian work in Haiti, Nepal and Ukraine with organizations Humanity&Inclusion, Momentum Wheels for Humanity, and Team Canada Healing Hands. Eric Weerts is a physiotherapist/rehabilitation specialist in Emergency response working for Humanity&Inclusion, in South East Asia, Africa and Middle East supporting SCI care development since 1991. The last 10 years , Eric has been active in emergency responses in conflicts as Syria, Burundi, RDC congo, Afghanistan and Ukraine, ensuring access to SCI care through adapting existing rehabilitation services in shifting promptly towards casualty management. Geraldine Jacquemine is a PMR specialist. After completing a SCI fellowship in 2001, she worked in Montreal, then did a masters in Public Health in Antwerp Tropical School of Medicine. She did several missions abroad, with Humanity & Inclusion, MSF, Team Canada Healing Hands in countries including Haiti and Myanmar. Jo Armstrong is a SCI physiotherapist at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. She has worked and trained with emergency responding organization UKMED, and in multiple emergency situations included Sri Lanka, Nepal and Ukraine with WHO and HI. Volodymyr Golyk, MD, PhD, Assoc. prof (Neurology), Docent (PRM), currently Technical officer, Disability and Rehabilitation WHO Country Office Ukraine. A former Consultant, Department PMR in Dnipro, Docent, Department PRM and Sports Medicine Shupyk National University of Healthcare of Ukraine, Director, School of Rehabilitation Medicine Ukrainian Catholic University. Member WHO-ISPRM Technical Consultancy to Support the Development of the National Disability, Health and Rehabilitation Plan in Ukraine, co-author of several WHO situation assessments on rehabilitation and assistive technology in Ukraine.
