Biography
Professor James Middleton is Clinical Director of NSW State Spinal Cord Injury Service, and Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine at The University of Sydney in Australia, with over 30 years of clinical and research experience. James is Past Chair of ISCoS External Relations Committee and remains Chair of its WHO-Liaison Subcommittee, working closely with the World Health Organization on various initiatives related to WHO Rehab 2030.
Dr Jane Duff, Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Head of the National Spinal Injuries Centre (NSIC) Psychology Team at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. Jane has worked in SCI rehabilitation since 1996 providing direct therapy, research, teaching/training, and consultancy. Jane was a member of the WHO SCI PIR development group and is Chair of the ISCoS Psychosocial Special Interest Group.
Dr Matteo Ponzano is a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of British Columbia, Kelowna, Canada. Dr Ponzano has expertise in clinical exercise physiology, health behaviour change, and psychosocial outcomes, and is currently working on a randomized controlled trial to test the effect of an exercise intervention, supported by physical activity counselling, on mental health and health-related quality of life in people living with spinal cord injury and chronic pain.
Dr Gillean Hilton, Occupational Therapist and Sector Coordinator Disability Liaison Officer program, Victoria, Australia. Gillean has worked in SCI rehabilitation and community settings since 2001, is secretary of the ISCoS committee for a Vocational Rehabilitation Core Data Set and leading the evaluation of an Australian implementation of a peer-led active rehabilitation program.
Dr Mohit Arora has a background in Physiotherapy and is a Senior Research Fellow at the John Walsh Centre for Rehabilitation Research based at the University of Sydney, Australia. Dr Arora has over 15 years of clinical and research experience in SCI rehabilitation. Dr Arora was the member of WHO SCI PIR Technical and Development groups.
