Biography

Inge Bru is chief physician of the Spinal Unit in the Rehabilitation Center in Ghent – Belgium and has many years of experience in spinal cord injury clinical care. Working as a medical doctor for G-sport Vlaanderen and the Belgian Paralympic team, she has expertise in adaptive and paralympic sports and classification. She is head of the medical technical committee of G-sport Vlaanderen, member of the top-sports com-mittee and is a national classifier for para-cycling (UCI).

Biography

Sonja de Groot is a Human Movement Scientist and works as a senior researcher in Spinal Cord Injury at De Hoogstraat Rehabilitation in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Additionally, she holds the position of Associate Professor at the Faculty of Behavioural and Movement Sciences at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Dr. De Groot served as the coordinator of Dutch multi-center research programs titled: 'Restoration of mobility in SCI rehabilitation' and 'ALLRISC'. She is one of the organizers of the yearly HandbikeBattle event in Austria and is the PI on the HandbikeBattle research project. Dr. De Groot's current research interests encompass spinal cord injury rehabilitation and exercise physiology.

Prof Yves Vanlandewijck

Biography

Yves C. Vanlandewijck is Professor in Rehabilitation Sciences at the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences of the University of Leuven (KU Leuven, Belgium) and the Department of Physiology, Nutrition and Biomechanics of the Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences (GIH, Stockholm, Sweden). His research interests include exercise physiology, biomechanics and ergonomics, applied to individuals with locomotor, sensory or intellectual impairment, in a rehabilitation to elite sports continuum. His main research applications focus on the development of evidence-based classification systems in Para-sports to ensure fairness in athletic competition categories. Since 1995, Prof. Vanlandewijck is a member of the IPC Sport Science Committee, currently the IPC Science & Research Working Group.
