Mahesh Sarki holds a PhD in Epidemiology/Public health from the University of Basel, Switzerland, and a master's degree in Global Health from the University of Copenhagen Denmark. Currently, he is pursuing a Post doc in Epidemiology at the Swiss Paraplegic Research, Switzerland. His primary research areas include the predictors of labor market participation, withdrawal from employment and life-course employment trajectories among individuals with spinal cord injury.

Dr. Shane Sweet is an exercise and health psychologist and a disability and community-based researcher. He is an associate professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education and the co-director of the Theories and Interventions in Exercise and Health Psychology Laboratory at McGill University. The overarching goal of Shane’s program of research is to enhance the lives of adults with spinal cord injury. He works alongside community-based organizations to understand, promote, and evaluate peer support services and programs for adults with spinal cord injury.

Rija Kamran is a physical therapist and a community-based researcher. She is a PhD Candidate in the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine, University of Alberta. Rija's research focuses on understanding and improving the experiences of people with spinal cord injury, primarily the experiences during the transition from inpatient rehabilitation to community and access to therapies/services that promote full participation in a meaningful life. She works closely with community organizations (SCI Alberta, ReYu Paralysis Recovery Centre, The Steadward Center), and is a strong advocate for promoting meaningful community engagement in research.

Miss Anouk Nijland is a junior researcher at Sint Maartenskliniek in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. Having earned a BSc in occupational therapy, she acquired valuable practical experience in the field. Subsequently, she pursued further education, completing an MSc in Human Movement Sciences (Groningen, NL). Presently, her focus is dedicated to researching innovative medical advancements for individuals with spinal cord injuries.
