Biography

Dr. Glisic is a medical doctor and clinical epidemiologist, co-leader of the "Cardiometabolic and Respiratory Research" group at Swiss Paraplegic Research, and independent lecturer at the University of Bern. Dr. Glisic's research has centered on the complex interplay of sex and gender since her doctoral studies. Initially delving into the impact of sex hormones on cardiometabolic diseases, her work expanded towards understanding the impairment of hypothalamic–pituitary–gonadal axis following neurotrauma. She extensively studies the role of lifestyle and behavior in women's health, cardiovascular diseases and neurotrauma.

Biography

Emma began her career as nurse educator and senior intensive care nurse in Melbourne, Australia. She went on to work with start-up medical device companies, supporting clinical trials and leading the implementation of innovative heart and circulation equipment in hospitals across the USA and Asia-Pacific. Emma has built up a broad-ranging skill-set that includes project management, stakeholder relationships and content development. Since 2016 she has led the SRI’s International Spinal Cord Research Collaborations Project, managing the development of the online Spinal Cord Research Hub (SCoRH) and other key programs including the Mentor Program and Research Group Facilitation service. She is an active community volunteer and sat as Co-Chair of Do Good Volunteers Ltd for a number of years.

Biography

I work as Clinical Nurse Specialist with the gastroenterology physiology team at University College London Hospital. I provide a range of specialist treatments: biofeedback therapy, transanal irrigation and psychological support to patients with complex needs or who are non-responsive to standard bowel care advice. During my previous 14-year-work at patient bedside, I gained experience in gastroenterology, following some clinical experience in oncology, nutrition and neurology. I hold an MSc in Clinical and Public Health Nutrition from University College London and an MSc in Transcultural Multicultural approach in the Field of Health, Social Care and Welfare. My research focus is currently on patients with neurogenic bowel dysfunction due to Spinal Cord Injury, Multiple Sclerosis or Parkinson.

Antonio Vecchio is currently the Community and Consumer engagement manager at the Spinal Research Institute in Melbourne. Antonio has a background in psychological science and sociology with particular interest areas been social psychology and developmental psychology. He is vastly experienced and program development as well as having experience working in the community with various community groups and community-based organisations.
