Biography

Jörg Krebs is leading the Neuro-Urology research group at Swiss Paraplegia Research in Nottwil, Switzerland. He has been involved in clinical research on spinal cord injury / disease topics, mainly neuro-urology and spine surgery, for 14 years. Before moving into clinical research, he had been active in experimental research with a focus on orthopedics and spine surgery for a decade. Jörg Krebs studied veterinary medicine at the University Bern in Bern, Switzerland and graduated in 1995. He attained a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (Dr. med. vet.) from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University Bern in 2002. In 2007, he received a PhD in Biomedical Engineering (summa cum laude) from the Medical Faculty of the University Bern and holds a Diploma of Advanced Studies in Applied Statistics.

Living with Spinal Cord Injury: 35 year medical and psychosocial outcomes

Biography

Kathy Zebracki, Ph.D. is Chief of Psychology at Shriners Children’s Chicago, Adjunct Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, and Clinical Professor of Psychology at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. She received her BS from Northwestern University and MA and PhD in Clinical Psychology from Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Zebracki completed her psychology residency at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago (now Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago) and fellowship at Loyola University Chicago. She is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association (Divisions of Pediatric Psychology and Rehabilitation Psychology) and of the American Spinal Injury Association (ASIA). Dr. Zebracki is an active clinician, researcher, and educator. Her clinical interests are in the care of youth with physical disabilities and chronic health conditions. Her research is in the area of psychosocial and medical outcomes of youth with spinal cord dysfunctions, including spinal cord injury and spina bifida. She also serves as a clinical and research mentor for clinical psychology doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows. Dr. Zebracki is the Editor-in-Chief of Topics in Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation and an Associate Editor of Developmental Medicine and Child Neurology. She is on the Board of Directors of Steel Assembly for Pediatric Spinal Cord Injury and Dysfunction and formerly on the Boards of ASIA, Illinois Spina Bifida Association, and American Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine. Dr. Zebracki has authored over 70 peer-reviewed journal articles, 15 book chapters, and 160 presentations at national and international meetings. Dr. Zebracki is a Co-Editor of the textbooks Spinal Cord Injury in the Child and Young Adult and Paediatric Neuropsychology within the Multidisciplinary Context.

Biography

Denise G Tate is a Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Michigan Medical School. She has served as the Principal Investigator (PI) of the Michigan Spinal Cord Injury System and is the PI of the research to be presented at this ISCoS meeting. She has written over 300 publications about spinal cord injury outcomes on topics of quality of life, patient decision making, psychosocial adaptation and bladder and bowel complications after SCI. Her research involves collaborators from several countries including the Netherlands, Australia, UK, Brazil and more recently from the Department of Urology at the University of Michigan. She also served as Chair of ISCoS Quality of Life Taskforce and is currently a member of the psychosocial committee working on the development of a psychological functioning dataset.
