Biography
Dr Quel de Oliveira is a Senior Lecturer and early career researcher. Her research has focused on improving physical treatment strategies and rehabilitation outcomes of people with neurological conditions, mainly spinal cord injuries (SCI). Relative to opportunity, as an early-career academic, Dr Quel de Oliveira has been highly active in research. She has led studies investigating the feasibility and outcomes of novel rehabilitation interventions, such as robotics and activity-based therapy. She was part of the working party who informed the development of the Australian and New Zealand Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Physiotherapy Management of people with Spinal Cord Injury (under revision). Her research findings have been implemented into the clinical practices of the 17 NeuroMoves community exercise clinics across Australia. She is currently co-leading a large Australian survey on levels, barriers and facilitators for leisure-time physical activity in people with SCI.
