Biography
Dr Marita Heck
Dr Marita Heck (PhD, MMid, BNS) is an Adjunct Research Fellow with the Hopkins Centre Menzies Health Institute at the Griffith University on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. Dr Heck has a Bachelor of Nursing Science and a Master of Midwifery degree. Dr Heck is further a member of the Griffith University’s Inclusive Future research team. In this space, Dr Heck is leading a multidisciplinary research team from five Australian universities in collaboration with people with lived experience promoting holistic sexual health support for people living with a spinal cord injury. Dr Heck is further a very experienced clinician working with people living with a disability in sexuality quality of life support in the Australian community. Besides her work in the research and the clinical setting, Dr Heck is a vivid romance novel author and published her first suspense romance novel Secret Forces in 2020.
Mr Antonio Vecchio
Mr Antonio Vecchio (BPsycoc&Soci) is a Community and Consumer Engagement Manager with the Spinal Research Institue in Melbourne, Australia. Mr Vecchio has vast experience in program development, fascilitation, and community engagement. As a community and consumer engagement manager with lived experience, Mr Vecchio is passionate about ensuring truthful consumer oriented expression of experiences across all research fields to ensure research outcomes are representative to consumers’ needs. Mr Vecchio further brings a background of psychological science and an understanding of trauma to the specialised role. In this space, Mr Vecchio is passionate about developing a greater understanding about how the former impacts and individual with lived experience socially.
